I’m back in Buenos Aires celebrating Christmas. The air is gorgeous and warm, and the people are equally as gorgeous and warm, busting out their best in summer fashions. In true Argentine style, the government and its opposers have been out-doing themselves in searching for ways to aggravate the other.
These back and forth jabs are too numerous to describe in one blog, so I’ll cover the most recent from each side: On December 21, the Argentine government expropriated the property of the Argentine Rural Society here in Buenos Aires. Antagonizing farmers in Argentina makes no sense, since the economy is so heavily based on income from soy, and yet the government has made them out to be fat and happy while the rest of Argentines suffer…
Classic and fun, trucker unions (and basically anyone with anti-Kirchner sentiments) held a protest march on Dec. 17 asking for higher salaries. Yours truly went to the march, made friends, avoided being robbed and kissed, and in short, had a fabulous time.
